Competing in the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) was a completely different kind of challenge and one of the most rewarding experiences of my career so far. Unlike traditional CTFs, CPTC simulates a real world penetration testing engagement. You’re not just exploiting boxes. You’re scoping, documenting findings, managing time, writing professional reports, and presenting to executives. Qualifying as a Top 10 team worldwide was a huge achievement for us. It meant that our technical depth, teamwork, and professionalism stood out on a global stage.
Earning that spot took us to Rochester, New York, to compete in the finals in the United States. Being there in person, going head to head with some of the strongest university teams in the world, was intense and inspiring at the same time. It wasn’t just about tools or exploits it was about discipline, communication, and thinking like real consultants under pressure. That experience sharpened both my technical skills and my ability to operate in high stakes environments, and it’s something I carry with me into every engagement today.
